This dance has only been held once before, during the fall of 2019, but it was a smash hit. Unfortunately, the Glow Dance has been put on hold for the last few years due to fluctuating COVID numbers.

New Castle got the go-ahead for the first Glow Dance since 2019 this past spring. However, due to the dance being held in the spring instead of the fall, and the unpredictability of spring Midwest weather, the dance was rained out. It was just announced that the school would make up the dance on September 10 instead.

What exactly is the Glow Zone Dance? Renaissance leader Karen Foster describes it as, “A big mosh pit where you dance and get paint thrown on you.”

The Glow Dance takes place after dark, outside in the school’s courtyard. Students wear all-white clothing and dance their hearts out under black lights while having neon paint sprayed everywhere.

“We are very excited to be bringing this event back,” says New Castle High School Principal Kirk Amman, “It should be a lot of fun. We are very eager to resume a sense of normalcy after COVID.”

Senior Ryan Greaser says, “My favorite part about the glow dance was just the pure fun everyone was having. Unlike other dances, there was no drama, no slow dances, no dates really. It was a group of Trojans having ecstatic fun together.”

When will this dance be and how can you attend it? The dance will take place on September 10 from 8-10 pm in the courtyard behind the school. Tickets will be on sale in the cafeteria every day during lunch for $20. You must have a drug testing form on file with the main office to attend.

This year, our school will be hosting three dances, The Glow Dance, The Fall Dance, and Prom. The Glow Dance, everybody is invited to attend; however, dances later in the year, like prom, can only be attended by upperclassmen. Everyone is encouraged to attend the dance because it is an experience like no other!

Grieser said it perfectly, “People do not understand how much fun this dance is. In 4 years, over the multitude of dances I have attended, the glow dance was by far my favorite dance of the year.”

What better way is there to spend your Saturday night than dancing under the stars while having the administration shooting paint over you? We hope to see everyone there and ready for a great time!

The Glow Zone Dance is back.
