We had fantastic submissions across the board!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Poem Winner:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Shedding: <\/strong>by Jamie Kernel<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The breeze caresses my broken skin,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>as my body melts into the ground.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Crickets serenade me with their song,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and birds hum their evening sound.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The earth around me falls so still<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>as I shed my broken skin.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I am moving forward now,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>from the person I have been.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The moon hangs above me,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>surrounded by many stars.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s as if I hear him speaking:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cThe world is finally ours.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I wake to crisp rays of the sun<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and taste sweet dew on my face,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I feel completely renewed<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and know that I have found my place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With my broken skin behind me,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>all I have is opportunity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Today I will be better,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and tomorrow I can be free.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><em>Haiku Winner: <\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Soggy Waffles<\/strong>: by Anne Hardwick<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>April showers fall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They make my waffles soggy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Spring ruined breakfast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Demeter: <\/strong>By Anastasia Taylor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once again I am forced to mend<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What people foolishly break and bend<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flowers, the trees, the animals needs&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>All come first opposed to man<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I will labor and toil<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enrich the soil<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And surrounded.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Embers:<\/strong> by Elizabeth Farlow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Like embers of a fire burning bright and dying fast,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Springtime just never seems to last.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Though full of rain at first,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Flowers soon do grow<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In fields and forests and yards<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That once was filled with snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I know it seems so long,&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But three months burn right by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The flowers that grew so tall<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Are scorched by the summer sun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With cool refreshing gusts of wind<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And the squawks from lively birds in bright green trees,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Springtime always awards great sights<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To those who are willing to see.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With a heavy heart and a reluctant goodbye,<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I watch summer enter as my friend spring flies by.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Waters: <\/strong>by Talia Bridges<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I sit by the spring waters that are quickly rushing by<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>the stream is moving so quickly<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>just like the birds in the sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>as the daffodils and tulips start to bloom<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I notice the flowers sitting by the stream are looking kind of gloom<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>they lean over the water<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>almost falling on the ground<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I try to pick them back up<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>so I don&#8217;t have to see them frown<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I leave them with a smile on my face<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>knowing they are happy in their place.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I lay by the stream again<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>to take a look at the sky<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>trying to see the clouds shapeshift with my naked eye<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>as the sky takes on a bluish hue<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>and the clouds start to fade<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I stare up at the moon<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>thinking about the future even if i have no clue<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>i start to drift off happily knowing that summer will be coming soon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Spring Day:<\/strong> by Chloe Davis<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mourning doves cooing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fishers fishing, parks
