It is time for the 2021-2022 New Castle High School gymnastics team to flip into a new season. The gymnastics team has been working hard and training over summer break and Christmas break to prepare for the competition season. In gymnastics there are four different events the gymnasts compete in that include: floor, vault, beam, and floor.

There are two seniors on the team this year, Elizabeth Guffey and Emma Troxell. These girls have been on the team since their freshman year and are both excited for another season and sad because this is the last year they will be competing with their team. “My team has been my family for the last four years, we’ve been through a lot together and I’m sad to see it go but I’m ready to see us all succeed,” said Guffey.

In gymnastics you aren’t just competing for yourself but also for your entire team because gymnasts are competing to score and place themselves but the entire team’s scores are added up and your team winning is what is most important. So all the gymnasts have to be willing to put in the work for each other.

The NCHS gymnastic meets:

  • Away at Connersville: Tuesday, January 11th, begins at 6:30pm.
  • Home: Saturday, January 22th, begins at 10:00am.
  • Home: Saturday, February 5th, begins at 10:00am.
  • Away at Auxiliary Gym: Saturday, February 12th, begins at 11:00am.
  • Home: Saturday, February 19th, begins at 11:00am.
  • Sectionals will be announced closer to the date, look at the New Castle High School athletics page for more information.

“I am excited to have an amazing year with all the girls this season! I am ready to see how far we can go as a team. I hope to make this the best year yet, to end my high school season,” said Guffey.

All the girls are putting in the work right now for one another and themselves. Come out to support your girls gymnastics team this year! The team is ready to start competing and would love to see a good crowd of friends and family ready to support the team. Best of luck girls!
