Stress is something that happens to all of us. Whether you’re stressed on the daily, or just from time to time, we all cope with it one way or another. What are some healthy ways to manage stress? Why do I feel like this all the time? These are questions the many students at NCHS have. Here are what some students have to say about stress.
According to Research.com an alarming 75% of students feel stress surrounding their school work. Now, students are prone to stress surrounding school that doesn’t involve schoolwork. In a study during 2019, an estimated 20% of women have experienced some sort of cyberbullying in that past year pertaining to school. This is, without a doubt, a major problem plaguing highschools all around America.

Now that we’ve covered the statistics of stress, how are supposed to relieve stress while staying on task? There are all sorts of activities or hobbies that can help relieve stress without taking up your whole evening. According to an article published by The University of Nevada, it states that music can help relieve stress, no matter the genre. “Music can have a profound effect on both the emotions and the body. Faster music can make you feel more alert and concentrate better. Upbeat music can make you feel more optimistic and positive about life. A slower tempo can quiet your mind and relax your muscles, making you feel soothed while releasing the stress of the day. Music is effective for relaxation and stress management.” So if you’re feeling stressed and don’t know what to do, just take a few minutes to relax and turn on your favorite tunes!
Another Thing to do if you’re stressed is play video games. I know that may not sound like an ideal stress reliever to some, but for others, it’s their saving grace. Freshman, Chloe

said, “Whenever I’m stressed about school, or just anything in general, I take a few minutes to cool down and play my favorite video game.” Even if it’s just for a few minutes, it can definitely help relieve some sort of stress. In addition to video games, sleeping is another thing students at NCHS do when they’re feeling stressed. Freshman, Bee Dawn, had this to say about stress relieving sleep. “I sleep whenever I’m stressed or anxious. I wake up feeling relaxed. It makes it much easier for me to do work.” You can’t deny a good nap helps the body function better!

Every person has their own method when it comes to dealing with stress. As long as you’re making sure it keeps you happy, healthy, and on task!
