New Castle students the annual blood drive is taking place Tuesday February, 8th. It is taking place in Bundy auditorium from 8am-2:30pm. You must be at least 16 with parents consent signed and with you to donate blood. You must also have a government ID to bring with you. Angie Talbott reminds us, “The Blood Drive is hosted by the Health Science Education Program from New Castle Career Center. Only Career Program students are eligible. Students should eat well over the the next few weeks, consuming fruits and vegetables (especially green leafy vegetables), and low fat red meet. This will boost their iron level so that hopefully they will not be declined. Each unit of blood can save up to 3 lives. There is a National blood shortage due to the ongoing pandemic so basically the blood supply is at a critically low level.”

Every two seconds someone in the U.S. requires a blood transfusion, according to the red cross. By donating blood you are able to help multiple people around the country who may have had an excessive loss of blood and need a transfusion.

There are multiple different types of blood including: A+, A-, B+, B-, AB+, AB-, O+, and O-. So everyone is bringing something different to the table in order to help more people.

It’s an amazing opportunity bigger than ourselves. Take the time to think about it and make a decision best suited for you.
