Sophomore Anyah Amman is a cross country runner at New Castle High School. Amman has been a cross country runner for 6 years. Amman got into running because her friends were doing it and Amman thought it was a good sport to grow from. Amman is also a distance runner for New Castle’s track team. Amman and the cross country team made it to semi-state last year. Amman says she likes cross country because of the competition and the challenges of running against other people.

Amman hopes to make it to regional’s as a team this year. Amman likes to cook while she is not running at practice or a meet for cross country or at school. Amman uses her study hall a lot which helps her get homework done. Amman uses her time wisely between school and cross country. Amman says her team is really encouraging, and they always want what’s best for her, and are always cheering her on. Amman says the best thing about being a student athlete is that it is really nice to see her goals pay off and her hard work and its always nice to be staying busy.

Amman has gained a lot of determination and strength from running cross country over the years. Cross country is a sport that uses a lot of mental strength and determination. While running it takes a lot of stamina and strength to keep running. Amman has grown a lot as a person because of running cross country. Amman lifts a lot and does yoga during her off-season. Amman says this about her coach, “He really cares about us and really wants us to improve every single day.” Amman wants to go to college after high school and get a degree in sports medicine. Amman always says, “Just keep running.” Amman is a really nice person and is easy to get along with.
