Senior Andrew Christman is a soccer player for New Castle High School. Christman plays goalie for the soccer team which is a major position on defense. He has been playing soccer his whole life. Christman says “Everyone plays soccer when their little and I just stayed with it.” Christman thinks the team this year was decent and they had improved a lot which is a good thing to look forward to in the future of New Castle soccer.

Playing soccer is a really active and physical sport. Being a goalie is a major part in a soccer game. Andrew has 142 saves in his New Castle soccer career which is not letting the ball go into the goal. Andrew is ranked number one in career saves in the Hoosier Heritage Conference and is seventh in the class of 2A and twenty forth in Indiana according to Maxpreps. Christman just wings it when it comes to getting homework done between school and practice. One of Christman’s greatest achievements is starting all four years on varsity.

Being a goalie takes a lot of hand eye coordination. Think about its pretty hard to be a goalie because the goalie’s have to pay attention at all times because they never know when someone is going to try and shoot the ball into the goal. The goalie also has to lay out for the ball sometimes which can be hard on the body. Christman is a great person to get to know. The soccer team won the first round of sectionals 1-0 against Centerville and lost in the second round 3-1 in a match up against Jay County.
