College is about breaking the mold, defying expectations, and discovering yourself. Whatever your goals may be, college can help you attain them. Whether it can be becoming financially stable, owning a home, reaching a dream job, having some fun, or traveling the world, college can help bring you closer to your dream.

You can take steps to invest in what you’re interested in and advance it, whether it be going to college, attending building trades school, or joining in the military. You’ll meet mentors and colleagues to help you become motivated and find the best version of yourself.

With many Trojan seniors preparing to close a chapter in their life and enter a new one, the future may seem uncertain.  As graduation nears, many students are excited to leave high school and go somewhere else to further their education, but taking a moment to reflect back on their lives and the amazing teachers that have helped shape them along the way. Trojan Senior David Gwinn states: “I look forward to learning the exciting things in the career path I am going on and just having the fun college experience.”

Many seniors have grown and developed throughout their four years in these halls, and many will be furthering their education in quite different ways than their freshman selves might have expected. “Ever since I was younger,” said Senior Faith Firle, “I wanted to be a teacher or at least someone who helps people, now it’s like as I got older I want to work with people’s mental health. That is why I want to be a psychiatric nurse practitioner.”

One of the most common pieces of advice given to incoming college freshmen would be to “get involved and keep on top of your work.” Many Trojan students are planning to do just that. Firle is “looking forward to making new friends and playing golf in college and hopefully finding myself.”  The idea is that college is more than just a way to get a high-paying job, it’s a way to enjoy life and become the person you were meant to be.
