Have you ever wondered why Taylor Swift has re-recorded her album, “Fearless”? Swift’s first studio album had many chart-toppers such as “Love Story,” “You Belong With Me” and ”Fearless”. Swift is a pop culture Icon who started in the music industry when she was just sixteen years old. Swift is currently 31 years old, and recently released two new albums “Folklore,” and “Evermore”. But, soon after these two hit albums, Swift went on to re-record her first studio album.As of today, she has also released her version of “Wildest Dreams,” as a single.
Swift launched into fame when she was sixteen years old, releasing her first studio album “Fearless,” but she was no stranger to music. A few years earlier, she had released an album called “Debut”. Since 2006, Swift has released 12 albums, becoming one of the biggest pop stars in the world.
The problem arose when Swift signed to Big Machine Records in 2005. In 2018, the deal led Swift to lose the rights to her six studio albums leading up to 2018. Hits like “I knew You were Trouble when you walked in,” and “Shake it off”. She signed with Universal’s Republic Records after the contract ended. In this new contract, she made sure she had all the rights to any music she produces.
But, we’re still left wondering one thing; why is she re-recording the first six studio albums? It’s simple: Re-recording her albums gives her full ownership under the new contract. Releasing Swift’s version of her own songs created an opportunity for followers to listen to her more mature and sophisticated voice. Don’t worry, the songs are still the same, just with Swift’s current voice. Many think it’s crazy how much her voice has matured over the years.
Sophomore Sydney Matthews says, “I don’t really think it’s necessary for her to re-record all her albums. I think her original songs were good enough. There was no need to really re-do them.”
So, what’s next? Swift has only released one of her six studio albums that are qualified for the re-recordings, the second one “Red,” set to be released in November. Many are unsure of what will come after Red, but that doesn’t stop Swifites from speculating. Many have been looking for clues as to what album will release next via her social media. Whatever she decides to release next will surely be a hit.
