Throughout Indiana, you can find many high school sports teams with talented, dedicated and committed players. But, you won’t find a soccer team quite like the New Castle High School Lady Trojans! These girls are truly one of a kind. Many of the girls on the team have stuck together throughout high school, while others have just joined the team this year. The Phoenix interviewed freshmen and seniors on the team to get two different perspectives; first season and last season.

We interviewed Watkuweis Watson, a freshman starter, and asked her how she thought her season went. “My season was pretty good! I’ve learned a lot of things from my coaches that were really helpful. It was just a really good experience, and the people I were surrounded by were really inspiring. They always put each other up no matter what! It was just a really good environment.”

Corinne, another freshmen starter for the Lady Trojans, also had this to say about her season. “I felt good about my first season, our team is definitely still growing. But, overall, our team worked very well together and played very well together.”

The Phoenix also interviewed Amber Heera, a senior starter who first joined the sport her sophomore year. “I thought our team was pretty decent. We may not be the best team, but I think we’re really close! It’s very important to be close to your teammates and form a bond with them.”

Ashlyn Clouse, one of the senior captains for the Lady Trojans also had this to say about her season. “My season was really fun! I really enjoyed playing with my teammates, I love them very much! But, I’m really sad I won’t be on the team anymore.”

All in all, the team was in high spirits the whole season. No matter what they were facing, they faced it together as a team. They’re a fun, vibrant, and talented group of individuals who share the same passion for soccer. “I had a lot of fun with the team! I love playing with my teammates, it’s so fun to play with people who have the same passion as me!” Is what Chelsie Groce had to say about her group of teammates. We’re looking forward to seeing what great things they do next season!
