It’s officially basketball season! New Castle is notorious for basketball, having the largest high school field house in the world. We interviewed a few players on the boys basketball team for further insight on what their goals, sportsmanship, and advice is for fellow students.
Trey Miller, A senior on the varsity team, told the Phoenix that his goal was to win a conference championship. His fellow teammates all had the same goal; win the conference!
We also asked Miller how well he thought his team worked together. “Yeah, we work really well together. We’ve been playing with each other for a really long time.” Many students and fans have said that their teamwork is unremarkable. Sam Maddy, another senior on the team, also had this to say about their teamwork. “We work like clockwork, you know? We’re a good team, we really like each other, and we work really well together. It’s not like last year where we were all over the place.”
Finally, we asked senior, Dawson Scott, what advice he’d give for new students wanting to join the sport. “I think it’s a great sport, I’ve played all my life. I think it’s fun. The bonds you make here is something you can’t get anywhere else. I definitely recommend it.”
