Show Choir, Dynamiques, is an all-girls choir that sings and dances. There are female freshman, sophomore, junior, and senior students apart of this group. Dyanmiques was a part of the NC choir department several years ago, winning 1st place at the state competition in 2012.
“We wanted a new group so other girls who didn’t make it get to have a chance in Dynamiques,” says Judy Hubbard.
There are Girls 9-12, Dancing, and singing. Choreography by Miss. Lainey Cross, Songs taught by Mr. Shumaker, Mr. Hutchinson, and Mrs. Hubbard.
“They asked everybody how they felt about a girls group, and I said that I thought that was a good idea because I wanted to experience how it was in an all girls group,” says Sophomore Rhiannon Fisher.
Their show consists of 5 songs in total. They have currently learned “Rocking in Paradise”,”Almost Paradise.”, and “Sweet Dreams”. “Rocking in Paradise”, created by the band named Styx, released in 1981, is about the Paradise Theater in Chicago. “Almost Paradise”, created by Dean Pitchfork and Eric Carmen, was released in 1984. “Almost Paradise” is about finding paradise with the person you love, it is also in the movie “Footloose”. “Sweet Dreams” is describing what they are looking for, a paradise.
“I like it, I think it’s good music that throws off your ability to show what you got,” says Director Ethan Hutchinson.
The goals for this year is to bring Dymaniques back onto the stage and to remind everybody who Dynamiques was and is.
“I think the most challenging thing in Dynamiques is being able to have faith and trust everyone else in the group to pull their weight and put in the work,” says Sophomore Charlotte Wallick.
The upcoming competition is going to be in January of next year. We are all really excited and we’re hoping we’ve improved since the Fall concert. We will continue to learn the rest of the music for our show, to please the judges.
“The purpose of Dynamiques is to have a family, a group of girls that you know will support you. To have a bond with the group is one you would never forget,” says Junior Sadie Schuyler.
