The freshman students went on a field trip to two different colleges on Thursday, October 19. Groups A-K went to the University of Indianapolis (U-Indy) and the L-Z students went to Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU).

The University of Indianapolis is a small private college with around 5,000 students. They have 131 different programs. There is an honors program at this college where classes can be more difficult. When students are accepted into the school, they will tell students if they qualify for the honors program then students may choose to take those classes.
Student Lydia Kivett says, ” My favorite part of the field trip was spending time with friends, although this college seemed nice the tour did not convince me to attend this college. I want to go to Purdue.”
They have dorm options where students can choose their roommate, or they can have the school randomly assign them a roommate based on a personality quiz. They also have on campus apartments as an option. They have a brand new dinning hall where students can scan their student ID, and they can get as much as they like. They have a huge variety of food and drinks.
Teacher Rhema Glover says, “Students benefit from this trip because it helps show them more things they can do after high school and helps decide the college they want to attend.”

High school students can highly benefit from a college visit like this; it can help them decide what college they want or even give them an idea of what type of college they want to attend.
