Senior Wyatt Brewster is a student at New Castle High School. Brewster is a twin to Sam Brewster and has two younger twin brothers. Brewster has gone to New Castle schools since kindergarten. Brewster plans to study finance at DePauw University. Brewster says, “School eats up a lot of our time 10 months out of the year but I try to make the most of it talking to teachers and people around me trying to figure out the next steps for the future and trying to learn the world outside of school.” Brewster has a small moving business.
Brewster was the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Award winner. Brewster was pretty shocked when they brought it to him in class. Brewster went through a series of interviews and has been on the process for three or four months so it was a really big relief. Brewster is not a big jump up and down and clap his hands kind of guy but to have everyone there to applaud him was something he had to take in. Brewster was very thankful for being awarded this award.
Brewster’s final GPA was a 3.8 or a 3.7 which is an average grade of an A-. Brewster is proud that he has made it this far. During his freshman year he thought unless he got pushed pretty hard there was no shot he would be where he is today or have the GPA that he has. Brewster is proud of the college classes that he has took and all the teachers that have helped him prepare for the future. Brewster got the green jacket from New Castle. Brewster is also proud to be the vice president of the National Honors Society.
Brewster has been working with DePauw since he visited in June and they helped him along with the Lilly Scholarship process a lot. They set him up with the president of they’re Lilly scholarship group and another girl that was a Lilly Scholarship winner from DePauw and they really helped mentor him a lot. Brewster says, “To be honest with you there has been social leaders that have came out of DePauw.”
One of Brewster’s strengths is his ability to talk in front of a lot of people or just doing something that sucks but just does it anyways and a weakness he has is his curiosity and when he gets curious he can jump from person to person and that can be bad in some social situations.
