Senior Braden Bennett is a student and wrestler at New Castle High School. Bennett wrestles during the winter season and plays football during the fall season. Bennett has been wrestling for four years. He started because he wanted to get better at football. Bennett wrestles in the two hundred and fifth teen pound weight class. One of Bennett’s favorite memories is winning sectionals as a team two years in a row which is a great achievement as a team. He placed second at sectionals this year and placed fifth in sectionals his junior year at the two hundred and eighty five pound weight class. Bennett has learned to manage his time to do school work from wrestling.

Wrestling has brought Bennett out of his bubble and let him meet more people also wrestling has let Bennett be able to talk to more people. Bennett likes to workout for football during the time he is not actively participating in a sport. Bennett wanted to make it to semi state this year but sadly he lost his first match in regionals to end his season. Bennett won twenty matches and lost seventeen matches. Bennett’s coaches push him to be the best wrestler he can be. Bennett wants to go to Anderson university and continue his football career.

Bennett says, “Being a student athlete teaches you how to be manageable with your time and be who you need to be.” Bennett likes to watch football outside of doing sports. Bennett tries to do his homework when he needs to do it between school and wrestling. The wrestling team is always there when Bennett needs them and when they need him. Bennett is proud to play sports for the school he plays for which is New Castle High School but after graduation it will be Anderson University.
